This is the night where the melancholy of urban rain morphed into something unbearable, overwhelming gloom, drizzling onto the Capital's patchwork of nocturnal lives; a feeling from the sky that is numbingly damp, with which we content, hole-heartedly that is. This generation of poverty are as spiritually ill as those pigeons diagnosed with nicotine-addiction, who gaze their detached gaze back at night's silent drape just like us, only our sins are our youth; and we'd more often retreat to our sins, voluntarily, because it feels calmer while alone. Pharmacies, prescriptions, sharp and meaty rainmarks on the skins, and "it's all gravity" -- this is us, dead trees hanging on a cliff of the Moon. So tonight, you distraught wind, come and find us; whisper your withering leaves, I beg.
мёртвое дерево is the 2022 full-length of the Moscow-based Post-punk/Gothic Rock collective КУЛЬТОДИНОЧЕСТВА (Cult of Solitude). Like the already prolific discography since the group's establishment back in 2019, мёртвое дерево captures all the essentials of the recently bloomed Slavic Post-Punk Revival: catchy vocal lines, minimalist riffs poetry, coldwave electronic beats, plus a pretty consistent (and sorrowful) timbre throughout its eight tracks, КУЛЬТОДИНОЧЕСТВА manages to create a heart-wrenching experience that transcends the language barrier -- like their more renowned peers/forebearers, but no less fascinating.
