As if in eternity, in a single instant of thundering astride, torn asunder forever are the lands, their scars, their marks left by iron and fire, by hooves and blood. As if the myths and memories never faded, the far-cries and war-horns never faded -- alongside Syr Darya and Narson Gol, they still echo within, like torrential currents and gales of Spring, within the descendants of the Khishigten | ᠬᠡᠰᠢᠭᠲᠡᠨ -- their tongues, their dreams. For the Blade-shaped Moon still remembers Her cause and oath once sworn under Ligdan Khan’s Banners, so should you, Children of the Steppe, you too must forever remember the campaigns and the sacrifices, migrations and rebellions, raptures and silences; you must pour all your spirit, your very bone and blood, into carrying forward the Songs of your Kin. Remember: Whips and Arrows, Fathers and Mothers. Until the roads of heroes again set the dreamt earth aflame, until the Morning Stars fall once more, upon closing your eyes, homewards.
“The Loyal Courage of Chahar needs no throne.
The Loyal Courage of Chahar is not ended.”
Muqali, long established themselves on stage as one of the most brutal BM bands from the Chinese underground, finally unveil their long-awaited debut full-length -- Marching Under the Moon's Wisdom, Triumphant in the Golden Sunset. A historical epic refracted through militant yet melodic BM hymns, Muqali’s debut marks a stylish shift: a melodicism deeply reminiscent of Finnish BM legends comes to the fore, while Mongolian history (in particular, the Chahar tribe) remains the thematic axis. Valorous, dolorous, but consistently gritty and unyielding, like the heroic troops they invoke, this album traces a path from tales of Mongol conquests to the contemporary crises collectively borne by their kinsmen -- binding in joy and sorrow, their unending honors and glories.
