Turning inward, the restless mind settles into stillness, for only in the Unseen does one return to the root. Astral winds surge through mountains, seas, through the Veins of the Earth, driving back the Miasma of Specters and the Surplus of Malices. Casting off attachment to Form and Substance, one holds fast to the hidden core of the Dao—where all fates recede into the Formless, becoming a vast and upright current of Qi, unified within the Great Way. Empty Dreams fade easily, yet the Living Soul resists purification: only when the last feathers ascend into the vacant above, and all cultivation is exhausted and burned, does emerge at last the Exalted Lucidity.
天殛 Divina Vindicta is a newly formed Raw Black Metal collective from the Chinese underground. In their debut, 天殛 stand apart from the excesses of black metal cosplayers that merely aestheticize the “exotic.” What emerges instead is a work grounded in strictly doctrinal engagement with Daoist practices and cosmology. Their sound reconfigures old-school Raw BM through Chinese tradition-informed melodic phrasing, the abrasive rustiness of DIY garage rock, and, at times, the spectral minimalism of dungeon synth. In this sense, the record also registers as a homage to the first wave of Chinese black metal in the 2000s, strongly echoing the legacy of Yn Gizarm.
