Under the moniker Bleakley Philharmonic, and now a three-piece act, D. (Vrolok, Vomit Orchestra, and a Krieg collaborator) -- long revered in the USBM and experimental underground -- once again unveils another composition of sonic obliteration. Music for the Final Requiem Mass in C# Minor is itself a formless performance: a ritual without actors, a requiem that turns inward like a wound that sings. Drone suffocates melody, and melody, in turn, becomes a portal (or is it a trap?) into spiritual vertigo. Every movement is a slow-motion collapse into obsession—desolate, unornamented, with a frightful intoxication of Devilry: Salvation has never meant for us.
