Founded in 2023 as part of the rising BM scene of South-Western China, while heavily influenced by the unmistakable sounds of golden-era Symphonic BM opus and the Hard Science Fiction Soundtracks of the 70s/80s, Dark Nebula Choir takes the obsession, terror, and transcendence born of the Cosmo seriously. Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite, the project’s debut full-length, is an homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey, inspired by the film’s most mind-bending chapter—the finale, "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite," the most enigmatic and visually arresting part of the movie but also its most hauntingly transcendental. The fragility of humanity, the incomprehensible of the void, and the godlike civilizations lurking somewhere beyond our reach -- themes as such are well encapsulated by the six chapters of this ambitious record: shifting from sweeping and dissonant BM riffs to eerie arrangements of cosmic synth and dark ambient, Dark Nebula Choir manage to offer dark sonic odyssey juxtaposing serene beauty with existential dread.
