Treading on, following the wailing dirge, tread your mournful steps right through the dismal stronghold of the dreary mountains, the cast-off Realm Forgone, where the movements of shadows replace all light. Tread upon this Sanctuary where sentries of ossified statues and petrified trees guarding in solitude -- their Time-gnawed armors bath in the Realm's spectral shade, in perseverance livid with memories' blowing grains, bearing a crumbling Silence that screams, deep down, eternally, into the heartwoods of their own skeletal-arborescent forms. A seemingly undying and unearthly Chants of the Fallen -- follow this wailing dirge. And tread. Embrace their Wrath. A fury that defies the Destined End. To ignite and avenge? Or to keep that bitter sorrow a pulsing flame -- within and without? As such, a Pyre of entwining fragrance burns under this Sanctuary Grove -- following the trails left by your own deeds, the mournful treads, and burning chants, again and again -- for this should be your bliss.
Indonesian Melodic Black Metal has been on the rise throughout the entire 2010s -- spearheaded by now international-renowned acts like Vallendusk and Pure Wrath, the Indonesian scene has showcased to the entire BM underground their unique approach to the Nature- and Folk- Inspired sub-branch of Black Metal. PROCEUS, a true trailblazer of the scene, has been active intermittently since the 90s, whose previous three albums have proven to be rightfully exemplary regarding the Indonesian Meloblack sound while also standing out unmatched among their peers with their incessantly ferocious riffs -- a genuine display of sublime brutality. The Unearthly Funeral Chant, this project's fourth and latest output -- which is also the first album written and recorded by the current lineup -- faithfully inherits all the greatness of their earlier materials: the torrential ferocity of its seven tracks again range from triumphant melodic uproars deeply rooted in folk traditions, to a more sinister form of slitting riffs trumpeted and brought to its fame by the late 90s Norwegian legends -- not a single note was wasted. A must-have for all fans of Old-school Epic/Melodic Black Metal.
